The Basics
Players attempt to make the best 5-Card Poker Hand by drawing one Poker Card at each of the 5 Stops along the SXM Poker Run route.
The top 5 hands will be awarded various prizes according to the value of the final hand.
In addition, there will be a Bonus Card available for purchase at the final stop. Players can choose to substitute one of their collected cards with the Bonus Card to improve their final hand.
How to collect cards
At each official card drawing event, players will draw one card from a deck of 52 standard playing cards. The dealer will record the card drawn on the official score sheet for that player’s hand.
You can’t have two cards of equal rank and suit in your hand. If a player draws a card already in their hand, the player will select another card from the remaining cards in the deck until a unique card is drawn.
For players that have purchased multiple hands, the player must nominate which hand they are drawing for before drawing a card.
Bonus Cards may be purchased at the final stop, before the main prize draw. After purchasing a Bonus Card, the player may or may not decide to swap out one card from his established hand and replace it with the Bonus Card. Only one Bonus Card will be issued per Poker Hand.
Rules of Poker
Final hand rankings will be awarded using the following method of determining the best 5-Card Poker Hand:
- Cards are ranked by Face Value, then by Suit (see the Ranking Chart below)
- Values are (lowest) 2 to 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace (Highest)
- Suits are (lowest) Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades (Highest)
Examples:
A Royal Flush is A, K, Q, J, 10 of all the same suit. A Royal flush of Spades beats a Royal Flush of Hearts.
A flush is any 5 cards of the same suit. A Heart Flush beats a Club Flush.
- If two players each have 4 of a Kind of the same Rank then the highest 5th card wins based on value and suit.
- If two players each have 3 of a Kind of equal value and suit then the two other cards in their hand are evaluated by rank and suit
- …and so.
In the unlikely event that two players have exactly the same value hand then we split the tie using a best-of-3, high-card draw from a full 52-card deck.
